Looking to impress your special someone this coming Valentine’s Day? It’s as easy as a sunset stroll through a vineyard in Sonoma County. The area is full of romantic offerings, from the numerous fine dining restaurants in the area to the natural beauty of the region.

Take a look at some of our local recommendations below if you are still looking for a little Valentine’s Day inspiration. We cover everything from local wineries to day spas and resorts to outdoor fun!

Check Out Our Local Wineries

As the birthplace of California wine, Sonoma Valley has rightfully earned the name of “Wine Country.” There are seemingly endless options of beautiful wineries to visit and amazing and unique wines to try. When it comes to setting up a romantic Valentine’s date at one of our local spots, you really can’t go wrong.

Some wineries are offering special events during this time of year, such as the HANNA Winery Valentine’s Weekend Wine & Food Luncheon. It will be held on the 12th and the 13th in February. An exclusive, three-course farm-to-table luncheon on the outdoor patio of the estate villa is included with HANNA wines, making for a comprehensive Valentine’s Day experience!

Other great local wineries we recommend checking out include the Gundlach Bundschu Winery, Scribe Winery, Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery, Lynmar Estates, Ram’s Gate Winery, and the Lambert Bridge Winery, among many others.

Want something other than wine? Hanson of Sonoma is a local, family-owned distillery that makes organic, grape-based vodka and is known for its unique and smooth flavors. Enjoy delicious cocktails at their Valentine’s Surf & Turf Cocktail Pairing, which will include a 90-day dry-aged strip loin along with a butterfly lobster tail and a “Love Potion” cocktail, among other treats.

Soak Up the Natural Beauty Together

Sonoma County has a range of beautiful spots to explore, from the rolling vineyard-spotted hills to the coastal areas and even the skies above. Whether you want to keep it simple with a romantic hike and picnic or get a bit more elaborate with a hot air balloon trip, there is so much to see in the region, you can’t go wrong. You can get an early start celebrating at Bees N Blooms, which includes the largest lavender labyrinth in California and plenty of beautiful flower fields. Why give just a bouquet when you can give an immersive floral experience

Want something a bit more luxurious? Sonoma Ballooning is one of Wine Country’s premier hot air ballooning experiences, offering a chance to see the area from a whole new perspective. If you really want to get romantic, you can even reserve the hot air balloon for just you and your lucky Valentine, creating an unforgettable experience.

Does your special someone have a soft spot for animals? If you want to impress the animal lover in your life, Charlie’s Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary is combining wine and a barn visit to make a special “barn crawl” event! The 21+ event will take place on Feb. 5th and will offer a selection of local wine and beer to compliment the plant-based food bites from Dahlia. What better way to surprise your animal-loving partner than with this early Valentine treat? The unique event will offer meets (from outside of enclosures only) with an incredible array of rescue animals, with the whole outdoor fundraising experience lasting around 1.5 hours.

Set Up a Relaxing Spa Day

Enjoying a day at the spa with your Valentine (or sending them on their own) may be the romantic gesture you are looking for. Good news? Sonoma County is known for its luxury lifestyle offerings, and our local spas are some of the best in California. Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary offers unique experiences rooted in their natural thermal springs that lend healing powers, including a cedar enzyme bath in a wooden tub. You can enjoy tea in the Japanese garden or a meditative moment with your Valentine.

Another recommended spa is the impressive Willow Stream spa, which includes indoor and outdoor pools, over 35 treatment rooms, and ancient natural thermal waters that include 24 trace minerals. Be sure to check out the signature Bathing Ritual, which offers an exfoliating shower, mineral soaking pools, and much more.

A slight shift away from modern zen garden is the Farmhouse Inn, offering sophisticated spa rooms in their Wellness Barn. Here you will find a cozy, farm-to-table atmosphere with upscale decor and rich organic products. Herbs grown in the onsite kitchen garden and heirloom cider apples are all incorporated into the treatments.

No matter what direction you decide to go in this Valentine’s Day, you can’t go wrong with a romantic outing in our beautiful Sonoma County!
