The weather may still feel like summer most days in Sonoma County, but the seasons have officially changed, which means crisper evenings, colors subtly beginning to change, and seasonal fun to be had. With October just around the corner, there are plenty of festive activities to enjoy across the county this year. Here at Annadel Builders, Inc, we are proud of our community and the many offerings that can be enjoyed here. We are excited to highlight some of the seasonal events and festivals that shouldn’t be missed for residents in the area! Check them out below.

Harvest Pig Roast

Would it really be the fall season in Sonoma County without a good outdoor celebration? Come and enjoy the whole-roasted pork from the dedicated winemaking team at CAST Wine’s Dry Creek Valley terrace. Along with the delicious pig roast, attendees get to pair their meal with the winery’s Pinot noir vintages and beautiful vineyard scenery. There will even be a blind tasting offered for those who would like to join in. The roast is held on October 2nd

Artisans Co-op Fall Fun

What better way to kick off the autumn season than enjoying an artisan market full of handmade fairs boasting fall colors and theme? They are offering a 10% gallery-wide sale to welcome the harvest time. You can find everything from ceramics, photography prints, wood crafts, paintings, and more, all made by unique local artists from around the area. The fall fun sale will be held on the 9th of October in Bodega, CA.

Día de los Muertos Community Art Day

One of the beautiful things about fall is the extensive cultural celebrations that mark the season. One of the region’s favorites is Día de los Muertos, which is why it is so fun to attend the local community art day in Santa Rosa put on by The Museum of Sonoma County alongside Life on Earth Art. They will be partnering to create a community altar for the 2021 exhibition on October 3rd.

Schugtoberfest

Another cultural celebration held in wine country during autumn is the Schugtoberfest, honoring the 100-year history and German heritage of Schug Carneros Estate Winery in Sonoma, CA. The winemaking roots of the Schug family go as far back to Domäne Assmannshausen in Germany, where Walter Schug grew up alongside his father, who served as winemaster. While the well-known Oktoberfest quickly spread outside of Munich in the 1900s and has become a beloved tradition even across the U.S. during October, Shug has put their own spin on it with the Schugtoberfest on October 9th. Don’t miss out!

Pumpkins, Succulents & Wine, Oh My

Another festive event to check out at one of our local wineries is put on at the Rodney Strong Vineyard on the 10th. They welcome everyone to kick off the autumn season alongside friends and family with an afternoon of decorating pumpkins and succulents, with craft materials and a glass of wine included with the price of admission

Geyserville Fall Colors & Vintage Car Show

This annual celebration is put on by the Geyserville Chamber of Commerce alongside Kiwanis, with the proceeds being donated to local charities, public schools, and scholarships. The family-friendly event is held in downtown Geyserville and includes a Geyserville Volunteer Fire Department pancake breakfast, festive games, music, crafting, and much more. Children and adults alike will enjoy the scarecrows and pumpkin pie eating contest. Of course, not to be overlooked is the highly popular vintage car show. The event is held on the 24th of October.

Dia de Los Muertos Windsor Finale Celebration

Held on October 30th, the annual celebration on the Windsor Town Green will be more personalized than ever this year, with the theme being Entierra La Pandemia, or Bury the Pandemic. All are welcome to the family-friendly festivities honoring the generations that have come before them. Some of the attractions will include the lowrider Car Show (held on Market Street), delicious vendor street food, local arts and crafting, music offered by mariachi bands, and even traditional calaveras face painting. The event is free for all who wish to attend.

Popular Pumpkin Patches to Scope Out

Not to be missed are the many local pumpkin patches offered throughout wine country. There is sure to be one nearby your area, offering everything from classic pumpkin picking to hayrides, animals, mazes, and other fun activities. Some of the local favorites include:

  • Foggy River Farm Pumpkin Patch in Healdsburg
  • Courtney’s Pumpkin Patch in Cloverdale
  • Petaluma Pumpkin Patch
  • Santa Rosa Pumpkin Patch
  • Great Peter Pumpkin Patch
  • Muelrath Ranch’s Pumpkin Patch
